Senator Zaffirini Announces Funding for City of Converse Fire/EMS

(AUSTIN) —Senator Judith Zaffirini, D-Laredo, announced today (Tuesday) that
the City of Converse will receive a $35,000 Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Local Projects Grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
The grant will help the city purchase an additional ambulance.

“For 19 years the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDRA) has
administered these funds and provided this critical support to local communities,”
Senator Zaffirini said. “I am delighted that Converse will benefit from a new
ambulance, thereby greatly improving public health and safety.”

EMS Local Projects Grants are administered by DSHS and are used by local
governments to purchase much-needed equipment, training, public education
programs and supplies.

Senator Zaffirini Announces Funding for San Patricio County Improvements

(AUSTIN) —Senator Judith Zaffirini, D-Laredo, announced today (Tuesday) that
San Patricio County will receive a $422,234 Supplemental Disaster Recovery Fund
grant from the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program (TxCDBG).
The grant will allow the county to replace aging bulkhead in Aransas Pass and
Ingleside on the Bay that failed to function during Hurricanes Dolly and Ike.

“The Texas Department of Rural Affairs (TDRA) was established to administer
these funds and to provide this critical recovery support to local communities,”
Senator Zaffirini said. “I am delighted that Aransas Pass and Ingleside on the Bay
will benefit from new bulkheads, thereby countering erosion and greatly improving
safety during hurricanes.”

the City of Roma will receive a $124,867 Supplemental Disaster Recovery Fund
grant from the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program (TxCDBG).
The grant will allow the city to restore roadways damaged by Hurricane Dolly in
2008.

“The Texas Department of Rural Affairs (TDRA) was established to administer
these funds and to provide this critical recovery support to local communities,”
Senator Zaffirini said. “I am delighted that Roma will benefit from enhanced
roadway infrastructure, thereby greatly improving access and safety for residents.”

(AUSTIN) —Senator Judith Zaffirini, D-Laredo, announced today (Tuesday) that
Starr County will receive a $416,322 Supplemental Disaster Recovery Fund grant
from the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program (TxCDBG). The
grant will allow the county to restore roadways damaged by Hurricane Dolly in
2008. Roadway repairs will take place in the La Rosita, Salineño, West Alto Bonito,
and Las Lomas communities.

Senator Zaffirini Announces Funding for City of Taft Improvements

(AUSTIN) —Senator Judith Zaffirini, D-Laredo, announced today (Tuesday) that
the City of Taft will receive a $300,000 Rural Sustainability Fund-State GR
Supplement grant from the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program
(TxCDBG). The grant will allow the city to rehabilitate the clarifier at the
wastewater treatment plant and to install one brush rotor, one new generator and 25
valve upgrades throughout the city.

Zaffirini said. “I am delighted that Taft will benefit from enhanced water and sewer
